Guidelines for a Wedding

The church ceremony will be, first and foremost, a service of worship that is beautiful and dignified; with an underlying sense of joy and reverence.

Fairfax United Methodist Church welcomes non members as well as members for their wedding at FUMC. The date for your wedding should be scheduled with the Wedding Coordinator well in advance of the ceremony. At that time you may indicate if you have a preference for a particular pastor to officiate. If not, the church will assign one. You are required to complete Prepare/Enrich, a standardized marriage inventory online. After the results are returned, please schedule three pre-marital counseling sessions with the officiating pastor. These sessions will allow time to review the marriage inventory results and for planning the ceremony. It is the responsibility of the bride and groom to schedule the counseling sessions with the officiating pastor.

Setting the Dates

Call the church office, 703-591-3120, and speak with the Wedding Coordinator to determine church availability and reserve the church. The church office is open Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Wedding Coordinator does not have office hours and will return your message as soon as possible.
