There are times when each of us needs the care of another person. Stephen Ministry is a program that equips lay persons to provide distinctively Christian one-to-one care to those who are experiencing all kinds of life needs and circumstances, both in our congregation, and in our community. Upon completion of the training program, our Stephen Ministers work together with our pastors to provide emotional and spiritual support to individuals going through difficult times. If you are interested in being a Stephen Minister or are in need of care, contact Daryl Witherspoon.
A prayer shawl is a hand-made knit or crocheted item (shawl or blanket) that is given on behalf of the church family to those who are experiencing difficult times. Prayer shawls are prayed over while they are made and after they are finished. Once delivered, these shawls offer tangible signs of comfort and prayer, and remind the recipient that they are not alone. The Prayer Shawl Ministry is open to persons of all ages and skill levels. While many of us enjoy the fellowship in meeting as a group, we do understand that some persons prefer to knit and pray individually — we happily accept those shawls too! Additionally, we accept donations of yarn. Contact Pastor Amy for more information — including the location of meetings and schedule changes.
Circle of Friends is a fellowship, faith and support group for widows in our congregation and our community. We understand that loosing a spouse can be difficult in many ways: grief, companionship, financially and more. This groups seeks to support each other and provide healing. One way we get ready for worship on Sunday is making sure the Sanctuary is ready. If you have free time during the week to stock the pews, pick up any loose papers and straighten the hymnals, this is the job for you! Contact Gayle Lorenz to be placed on the schedule.
Caring individuals are needed to assist with ushering, greeting and occasional receptions. For more information or to volunteer, please contact Pastor Amy Grant.
