Mission to Honduras

Fairfax Church has longstanding and successful relationships in Honduras based primarily on our experiences in Quimistan at the Honduran Independence Bilingual School (HIBS) and schools in San Pedro Sula. Our mission teams have built dormitory and teaching space, helped to expose and teach English to the teachers and students through music, crafts, and other educational opportunities and also have experienced Honduran life and culture by visiting local homes and farms. These heartwarming relationships will always be remembered by our team members and have created a strong bond with this Central American community. Generously donated itemshave been delivered from FUMC including a refrigerator, laptop computers, projectors, and many school and health supplies. If you feel a calling to experience a short-term mission trip to Honduras when travel is allowed again or just want to know more, please contact Pastor David Bonney. Thank you for your prayers and support.

UMCOR Relief Ministry

Fairfax Church supports the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), an organization dedicated to alleviating human suffering around the globe. UMCOR’s work reaches people in 80+ countries, including the United States. UMCOR provides humanitarian relief when war, conflict, or natural disaster disrupt life to such an extent that communities are unable to recover on their own. Volunteers provide assistance throughout the year, based on needs. Groups and individuals (all ages!) are needed to plan, assemble, and distribute items such as backpacks, hygiene kits, and flood buckets throughout the year. Donation of various supplies are collected throughout the year. Monetary donations are also accepted to purchase additional supplies. Prayers for those affected by suffering around the globe are also welcome. For more information or to volunteer, please contact Christie Johnson.

Youth Mission Trips

We hope that all students planning to attend a summer mission trip would attend the missions meetings throughout the year.

  • Our Youth Mission Team  traveled to Costa Rica on July 6-12, 2019 to serve with the Rice and Beans Ministry. They participated in a variety of different ministry activities from serving with children, working on construction projects, and delivering bags of food to families in need.
  • Senior High students served at the Leech Lake Reservation, MN on July 7-14, 2019  and were introduced to the Ojibwe culture through an intentional immersive service experience. The team was commissioned on Sunday, July 1 in worship.

Shoes for Souls

Shoes for Souls is a relational ministry between Fairfax Church and The United Methodist Church in The Philippines.  Fairfax Church has positively impacted children and youth in Bataan by sending shoes and sponsoring youth to attend the Christmas Institute Camp.  Toward that end, several mission events are scheduled throughout the year that focus on this special global ministry. On an annual family income of approximately $800, a pair of shoes for $25 is a luxury most families cannot afford.  When we announce this special shoe collection, all sizes of boys and girls’ shoes, either new or gently used, are received to assist these mountain communities and are distributed by The United Methodist Church of the Bataan District in the Philippines.  For more information, contact Todd Steiner. todd.eloi@yahoo.com
