Children are a Gift from God

We are here for your children all year. Below are ways your children can become more involved in their relationship with God, peers and this congregation. For more information, contact Angela Schroeder, Director of Children’s Ministries.

Want to get involved? If you have a heart for kids and want to support the faith development of the next generation of believers, please contact Angela Schroeder at aschroeder@fairfaxumc.org.

Sunday Morning Kids Ministry

There’s plenty to look forward to this fall at Grow Kids Ministry! For kids in fourth through sixth grade, we’re bringing back the Holy Moly program. This program focuses on one Bible story each week and invites kids to explore how it applies to their lives. For kids in preschool through third grade, we have a new program, Godly Play, based on the work of Dr. Jerome Berryman. During this time of worship, storytellers share stories of God with the kids using physical materials and guide kids to explore these stories with “I wonder . . .” questions. Afterwards, kids will have time to respond to the stories and build their faith through play. To learn more about the Godly Play program, click here.

New Years PJs and Pop-tarts!

January 1 | 9:30am

Kids are invited to come for the 9:30 service on New Years Day in their pajamas for our PJs and Pop-tarts celebration in Kids Ministry. There will be lots of fun (and pop-tarts) upstairs during the worship service that you won’t want to miss! If you have any questions, email Angela Schroeder.

For Parents

As caregivers sometimes, it may be tricky to find ways to help kids spend time with God on their own, in an age-appropriate way. Here are few ways:

  • Use a good Bible translation
  • Teach kids ways to pray throughout the day
  • Play kid-friendly worship songs
