Global Missions

Mission to Honduras

Fairfax Church has longstanding and successful relationships in Honduras based primarily on our experiences in Quimistan at the Honduran Independence Bilingual School (HIBS) and schools in San Pedro Sula. Our mission teams have built dormitory and teaching space, helped to expose and teach English to the teachers and students through music, crafts, and other educational opportunities and also have experienced Honduran life and culture by visiting local homes and farms. These heartwarming relationships will always be remembered by our team members and have created a strong bond with this Central American community. Generously donated items have been delivered from FUMC including a refrigerator, laptop computers, projectors, and many school and health supplies.

UMCOR Relief Ministry

Fairfax Church supports the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), an organization dedicated to alleviating human suffering around the globe. UMCOR’s work reaches people in 80+ countries, including the United States. UMCOR provides humanitarian relief when war, conflict, or natural disaster disrupt life to such an extent that communities are unable to recover on their own. Volunteers provide assistance throughout the year, based on needs. Groups and individuals (all ages!) are needed to plan, assemble, and distribute items such as backpacks, hygiene kits, and flood buckets throughout the year. Donation of various supplies are collected throughout the year. Monetary donations are also accepted to purchase additional supplies. Prayers for those affected by suffering around the globe are also welcome. For more information or to volunteer, please contact Christie Johnson.
