Children are a Gift from God

We are here for your children all year. Below are ways your children can become more involved in their relationship with God, peers and this congregation. For more information, contact Angela Schroeder, Director of Children’s Ministries.

Want to get involved? If you have a heart for kids and want to support the faith development of the next generation of believers, please contact Angela Schroeder at aschroeder@fairfaxumc.org.

Sunday Morning Kids Ministry

While adults attend the regular Sunday morning service, kids can have a great time learning about God’s grand story of redemption! Kids in preschool through third grade enjoy our Godly Play program, which is based on the work of Dr. Jerome Berryman. During this time of worship, storytellers share stories of God with the kids using physical materials and guide kids to explore these stories with “I wonder . . .” questions. Afterwards, kids have time to respond to the stories and build their faith through play. This is a great opportunity for them to develop their faith at their own level. Meanwhile, kids in fourth through sixth grade have a blast interpreting the Holy Moly language was they dig into the stories of the Bible and learn what these stories mean for their lives today.

For Parents

Resources for Parents

As caregivers sometimes, it may be tricky to find ways to help kids spend time with God on their own, in an age-appropriate way. Here are few suggestions:

  • Use a good Bible translation
  • Teach kids ways to pray throughout the day
  • Play kid-friendly worship songs
