SUMMARY:Advent Bible Study
DESCRIPTION:For two thousand years\, Christians have turned to the story and message of John the Baptist in the weeks leading up to Christmas. In this year’s Advent study\, titled Prepare the Way for the Lord: Advent and the Message of John the Baptist\, best-selling author and pastor Adam Hamilton explores the Advent themes of John’s life and ministry and how John calls all followers to prepare our hearts for his coming. This study will run for three weeks\, with sessions on Wednesdays from 11:00 – 12:15 (Nov 30\, Dec 7\, and Dec 14). We hope you’ll join us for this enlightening video-based study. SUMMARY:Journey Through the Gospels Bible Study
DESCRIPTION:What exactly did Jesus do and say while he was on earth? What were his primary and his controversial teachings? How was he different from other religious leaders\, and what does he want from us today? If you’d like answers to these types of questions and want to grow your faith\, join Pastor Pamela Kipps on a Journey Through the Gospels. We’ll begin our journey on September 21 with a six week study of the book of Matthew. Classes will run weekly through October 26\, with identical sessions on Wednesday mornings at 11:00am to noon and Sunday mornings at 10:30–11:30am. DESCRIPTION:FUMC looks forward to another delicious dinner and more great conversation at our Dinner Out event on Wednesday\, September 28. Starting at 6:30pm\, join us in the backyard of Pastor Pamela’s parsonage across the street from the church for Italian Night! This is a great way to connect with others in the church\, make new friends\, and soak up a spirit of joy! Drop-ins are welcome\, but if you can\, let Pastor Pamela know you plan to attend by sending an email to pkipps@fairfaxumc.org or calling the church office at 703-591-3120. This will help us order food accordingly. Tables will be set up inside and outside for casual comfort. A donation of $15 per guest is suggested. If you’d like to assist with this event\, contact Pastor Pamela and let her know you can help with setup or cleanup or that you can bring a dessert for the dessert bar. We hope to see you there!
